Sand City is the hook that has lured Dick Moody out of premature retirement to once again establish and manage a managed sports venue. 

Dick set up the first professionally managed stand-alone beach volleyball venue in Queensland (perhaps Australia??) in 1993 on nearly 4000 square metres of land at the busy corner of Kings Road and Woolcock St in Townsville.

After running it for 17 years Dick sold the business to take a break, but when the tenants chose to move out after 5 years, he couldn’t stand by and leave beach volleyball without a venue in Townsville.

The complex has now been refurbished to make a unique and exciting year round beach sports venue with the addition of a couple of new sports - foot volley, and beach badminton.

The licensed bar, large swimming pool, and spacious grounds available for function or celebration hire, make it a special and friendly place to be.
